how many people define humans

People can be defined in many words a cheater, a liar, and a honest person well there is more but I want the reader to be entertained. There could be many definitions for humans but never just one definition. See and the reason for all these definitions is because one of these people do some of these good or bad actions like bad people would cheat and good people would tell the truth. Some people like Obama and Romney they both are good people but to some Romney is a bad person and a liar and for Obama too. There is only one person to me that is horrible and that is hitler ( I should have not put his name ). The things he did to the Jews was just shellfish and what right. Now all the people with that last name have a bad reputation ( but I am sure that they changed their last name ). Finally if someone in the future were to do good and only good then the definition of humans would be good .just like in this article enrichmentjournal.ag.org/.../201002_134...

Corruption Follows Power

Power is a big thing in the world and it is important for it to be balanced. If it is not balanced then corruption will find its way to it. One example is the Constitution, in the Constitution it is written for the government to be split into three branches that are separate yet equal in power (Separation of Power). In order to make sure that they were equal they a able to check upon each other in different ways. Prince Prospero from the story written by Edgar Allen Poe is another example of corruption with power. He abandons his entire kingdom to die in the outside world while him and his friends had a party to distract them from the fact that people are dieing just out side the walls. But why is it that leaders with a large amount of power become corrupt? The answer is in the article "How Power Corrupts Leaders" by Ronald E. Riggio.One of the reasons is they get "intoxicated with power" and do bad and selfish things just because they can and they can get away with it. As it says in the article power is and isn't good for leaders. The positive side is that it makes them more assertive and confident. The negative side is that the more power they have the more they focus on their own "egocentric desires."

 In conclusion power is a big thing in the world and it is important for it to be balanced. If it isn't corruption is bound to work its way into it.

Power and Coruption

                Power corrupts the best of us, even our own mayor of Upland John Pomierski ,who used his power to strong-arm businesses making them pay to continue business as usual. Abraham Lincoln said “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power." Lincoln said that because not all men are strong enough to resist the overwhelming temptation of abusing their power. Power causes people to wonder what they could do. Thought leads to action and releases the worst possible thing that could have only become because of power.

               An article by Time magazine begs to difer, it says that individuals who are cast in the limelight are more cautious and tend to make less mistakes. On the flip side people who are told that they are of low class make more errors. I don't believe this would apply to a person of leadership because of the different approaches power.  

Actions= Who Are You?

Cloning is like being a copycat. You try to be exactly how the other person is. That's like Matteo Alacran in the novel The House of the Scorpion. Your actions determine what kind of person you are.

To me, human cloning is dangerous and sad. First of all, human cloning is very expensive. It can cost $1.7 million to $2.0 million, and these prices are just the beginning. For whatever reason, some people don't want to fund the money or the cause. Some people can't even afford the treatments. SOME PEOPLE DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN HUMAN CLONING!

Second, human cloning is sad. It's sad because you are just using a unique human being for a science experiment. Some of the doctors and scientists don't even care about you! They just care about making money off of you! For example, in the book Flowers for Algernon, the doctors and scientists were having an argument about Charlie's operation. They didn't care if Charlie was ok. They just debated about who should be the "chairman" of the project.

Although human cloning is bad, there are some good sides to it. You find out new things. Let's say someone made fun of you. You really don't notice at first what they mean. Later on, you start to think about it. You might say,"Wow. I didn't know that's what it meant." That's how bad human cloning can feel.

Morality and Science Should Be Separated, But To a Certain Extent

I feel that science and morals should be separated, but not to much as to where they harm living beings very badly. I feel that morality and beliefs should not be introduced in science experiments because it may make a person dismay certain facts that do not agree with their beliefs or it may cause them to change the outcome to please the public and have more people that hear of this information to believe in what they believe in.

One thing that has been a big part of science that has had many morals intrude on it's study is cloning. A lot of people may say that cloning is unethical because it violates the value of life and makes people act like god since they have the power to create life. First of all, that is a personal opinion about how it makes them act as though they are God. Second of all, if scientists are able to continue their research on cloning and put their own morals out of their way it may be able to save and continue many lives later in the future.

Many arguments have been made for and against cloning. But overall the benefits seem to outweigh the cons. As stated in the article earlier said, if a person clones their own heart at a young age they could use it later on in life if they suffer a heart disease. But there are many arguments against it, which are mostly based on peoples morals, one being that it violates life and makes it worthless. But this can save many lives, and create new beings as well for those who cannot create any longer. These are just a few reasons why I feel morals should be separated from science.

Animal Testing

The more I hear about animal testing the more that I don't like it. What they do to these animals is cruel. One example is the beagle that was mentioned in the article,"Reasons We Should Protect Our Animals." This animal's lungs were infected with a mold in order to test new human drugs in it.this is just one of the horrible things that they have done to animals at these labs. Not only was was it cruel, it was also costly. one example for that is the minks that were mentioned in the article. They were $10 a piece and they need a large amount for there testing and for students.

There are alternatives to animal testing. One of these is cadavers which can be reused and would save a lot of money. Another alternative is corrositex. This is a type of artificial skin that measures corrosiveness of an applied product. Computer modeling is an other option. This software would cut costs "substantially" and it is infinitely reusable. These alternatives are far less cruel and way cheaper than using animals.

These are just a couple of examples of the things done to animals in these labs and the alternatives to it. It is horrible what they do to these animals and we shouldn't stand for it.

Why America Should Ban Animal Testing(Reflection)

I totally agree with this article. Products shouldn't be tested on animals! I think they should be tested on humans that have donated their bodies to science and education.

When I went to the L.A County Fair last year, I went to the Human Body Exhibit. I asked if they used the bodies for product testing. They said that they rarely use bodies because the bodies really don't project the results that the scientists need. I asked them," Why do they use animals instead?" The guide explained that animals are more economical, they're "alive", and they project more and better results of the effect of the product. They also showed us a demonstration of how they test their products.

In the article, it states that there are many alternatives to animal testing. They're more economical than animals! Southern Adventist University of Collegedale, Tennessee uses minks in its biology labs. The minks used cost around $10 a piece, and they're reusable. This to me is more sufficent than animals. This animal testing is killing so many animals around the world. This is causing certain animals to become endangered, and even extinct.

The Horrible Epidemic That Is Animal Experimentation

This article really enraged me. It angered me very severely and hurt my mood for the rest of the day. I feel very strongly about being con towards animal harm in any way. This article brought out severe “hateful” emotions towards animal experimentation and anyone that harms animals purposefully. This article also strengthened this feeling because there are other things that can be done besides testing on animals. Like in this article it said that there were many things that could be used besides animal testing, like fake corrosive skin which scientists could test on besides animals. 

Another argument that was made in the article said that instead of animal experimentation they could just use computer imaging to find out if something is harmful to humans or not. Sure some may say that computer imaging is not always accurate, but isn't that an extreme? These computer imaging are fairly accurate, and scientists use more than one computer to get an accurate example of their products safety or toxins. 

Lastly, this reason does not matter to me, animal experimentation is very costly. To keep animals well fed and groomed in there laboratories it costs over half a million dollars for a small group of animals over a 1-2 year period. One reason that the article gave us was that in colleges minks are commonly tested on, which is very costly, because even though they are dead they are ten dollars each, and can only be used once. So please save these animals, they do not have a voice to stand up against horrible and cruel human beings and the human beings that can talk for these helpless creatures should help stop the cruelty.

Animal Testing and Patenting

           Animal testing and animal patenting are considered by some wrong and inhumane while others say its a necessary and life saving process, but no one believes that its completely right in all aspects. An article written by Glenn Gordon called "Why America Should Ban Animal Testing " outlines many reasons and facts against it like it's expense and alternatives such as Corrositex ,a substitute  artificial skin. 
           In the same article Glenn brings up a point about how corrositex is cheaper and more humane than testing on mink carcasses that cost around 10 dollars a sample. Glenn's "cheaper" corrositex costs around 100 dollars per use! Donated cadavers pose a more practical venue. 
          The real judgement of if its right or not is in the amount of lives that are saved by this procedure, around 1.5 to 1.6 million people a year! imagine what it would be like without it .
          It is hard to say without bias what is more costly ,the lives of so many animals or the lives of so many humans.

Black Friday Violence

There were shootings and a pepper spray attack at a Wal-mart in Porter Ranch and a Wal-mart in San Leandro. These events happened on Black Friday just a day after you are supposed to be thankful for every thing you have.

In Porter Ranch a woman pepper sprays other customers in an "attempt" to get more "merchandise." Of course this attempt ultimately failed when the authorities where called. In a San Leandro a man was shot.wounded and robbed early Friday morning. Another shooting was reported in the parking lot of a Wal-mart in South Carolina this was also suspected as a robbery attempt.There is much more that happened on this day if you look here.

The fact that this is happening the day that people are supposed to be thankful is absurd. It is hard to believe that people can be nice and giving one day and fight and start complete chaos the next

Friends

Some people say that friends will always be your friends no matter what. But I would disagree with that for a couple of reasons people may leave when in certain situations, they also may be mad about something that you had done.

Some friends may not stick around when you get put into certain situations. One example is if you got in trouble with the authorities they may not stay with you and get in trouble with you. They may not be behind you when times get hard. They may also be mad at you about something that you have done which can affect if they consider you a friend. This would happen especially if want you did affected them in a negative way.

A true friend would be with you through thick and thin. They will be there when you get in trouble and when you succeed. These are the type of friends that you should strive to find. The meaning of friendship is here.

Animal Testing and PETA's Stand

             Medical testing on animals has been around for a long time. Since the third century when Greeks studied and tested on pigs and goats, but does that make it right? PETA or People for Ethnic Treatment of Animals is highly against animal testing saying that " more lives can be saved by educating people on the importance of avoiding fat and cholesterol...."  Fat and cholesterol are not the only deadly forces met by human kind . Its is estimated that 50,000 people die from potentially vaccine preventable diseases each year just in america! vaccines are almost always directly created by animal testing , preventing all those deaths.

             PETA also states in the same article this quote George Bernard Shaw once said, "You do not settle whether an experiment is justified or not by merely showing that it is of some use. The distinction is not between useful and useless experiments, but between barbarous and civilized behavior." According to PETA its civilized to throw thousands of lives to their preventable deaths just to save a few rats. Animal testing is necessary. 

Black Friday: What Is It?

Have you ever heard of Black Friday? Do you know what Black Friday is? If you don't know, that's ok. This helpful mini summary will tell you what Black Friday is and what it means.

As you all know, Black Friday is right after Thanksgiving. This gives people time to shop for all their Christmas gifts. All of the stores nationwide have so many sales that people can't resist them! "Consumers were very strategic in getting the deals in items that they wanted for themselves," states Marsal Cohen in this article. On the other hand, some stores can extend Black Friday prices, and even present the prices 1-2 weeks in advance. This can cause dangerous employee protesting.

You're probably wondering what Black Friday REALLY means. Black Friday is the turning point for companies when the starting profit is 20,000-40,000. Whe the profits are low, this causes the numbers to be "black". That's why all the stores have so many sales! Just to increase profit! They probably sell the cheap stuff for alot of money.

Alot of people say that Black Friday is a waste of time and money. Let's say that you want to buy an IPad Mini. If you go on Black Friday, you'll probably get it for $300. If you wait a while, it can cost $329 on apple.com. That's why it's better to purchase electronics at the lowest price.

Black Friday Incident, Two People Shot

Two people were shot outside of a Wal-Mart in Tallahassee, Florida on Black Friday. The victims were a man and a woman, according to witnesses. Luckily the two that were shot did not die but are in the hospital for they cannot leave due to wounds. Neither have suffered life-threatening injuries, say police.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, a newspaper in Florida, there was one major witness named Kollet Probst. She said  she had finished much of her holiday shopping when she returned to the Walmart on Apalachee Parkway to make a return. She said she was waiting in the customer service department when a crowd of people came running into the store from the parking lot. Shots started going off, and customers ducked for cover.

Another major witness, unknown name, states that the two people that were shot got into a very deep argument and that the shooter had gotten annoyed and shot his firearm. Both stories may add up but the gunman has ran away and is still being chased by police officials.

Animal Experimentation, Necessary For a Break Through In Science or Another Means Of Animal Cruelty?

Are animal experiments really necessary? Do we really need to experiment and kill living beings just so we can have better lives? No, we should not do something so cruel! P.E.T.A. has an amazing saying, this saying is as stated "Animals are NOT ours to eat, wear, experiment on, abuse in any way, or for any form of entertainment." This saying is so very true, and is put in an amazing way. It shows that humans do not have the right nor should be allowed to use animals just to make their own lives easier. We should respect that they're another life form and have emotions, not just some dumb idiotic thing that waits around to be cruelly tested on, or even killed when it is not necessary. 

P.E.T.A. knows much about animal experimentation. It is a horrible thing, they use these animals in cosmetic laboratories, agricultural research, dog and cat food trials, weapons tests, aerospace studies, and car-crash simulations. One experimentation that is done on animals overshadows most others. This is testing for toxicity in things such as pesticides and other things used for keeping food safe for humans but killing bugs.

P.E.T.A. said "Regulatory agencies in the U.S.—including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration—as well as regulatory agencies in the European Union and elsewhere in the world require chemicals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and many other products to be tested for toxicity. Animals are forced to ingest or inhale—or are injected with—toxic substances such as gasoline components and mercury. Animals used in these tests suffer extreme pain before they are killed, dissected, and thrown away like garbage."

Right this minute in laboratories across the world there are many animals who are tied up or caged and forced to be tested on, some of these things that are tested on them eating away at their own flesh. Do you think that these animals enjoy this punishment? Put yourself in their place, would you enjoy that, having your own skin peeled off then killed if you could not perform any more tests, then thrown away like garbage? No! That is why I urge you to be nicer to animals across the world and ask you to join in P.E.T.A. in saving all of these lives from these tests.

The real origin of thanks giving

So many people think that thanksgiving is about gathering around with family and eating,and saying thanks well it is not .In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is known today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by some colonies and states. It wasn't until 1863, in the middle of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln declared that thanksgiving should be held every November.

In September 1620, a small ship called the mayflower left Plymouth, England, carrying 102 passengers—a group of religious rebels seeking a new home where they could freely use their faith and other people lead on by the promise of prosperity and land ownership in the New World. After a false and awkward crossing that lasted 66 days, they dropped anchor near the tip of Cape Cod, far north of their planed spot at the mouth of the Hudson River. One month later, the Mayflower crossed Massachusetts Bay, where the Pilgrims, as they are now known, began the work of establishing a village at Plymouth.

Throughout that first harsh winter, most of the colonists stayed on board the ship, where they suffered the outbreaks of contagious disease. Only half of the Mayflower’s original passengers and crew lived to see their first New England spring. In March, the rest of the settlers moved ashore, where they received an amazing visit from an Abenaki Indian who greeted them in English. Several days later, he returned with another Native American, Squanto, a member of the Pawtuxet tribe who had been kidnapped by an English sea captain and sold into slavery before escaping to London and returning to his homeland on an exploratory expedition. Squanto taught the Pilgrims, weakened by malnutrition and illness, how to cultivate corn, extract sap from maple trees, catch fish in the rivers and avoid poisonous plants. He also helped the settlers forge an alliance with the Wampanoag, a local tribe, which would endure for more than 50 years and tragically remains one of the sole examples of harmony between European colonists and Native Americans.

Thanksgiving Time

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all of the things you have. It is also a time to give to the the ones who need. Thanksgiving is about people coming together and giving thanks for there food and everything they have.

During Thanks giving people volunteer at a soup kitchen or donate canned goods or other types of food to the homeless. This is a very common way to express this holiday. The way that most people celebrate Thanksgiving is by having a turkey, mashed potatoes, and other foods art the a table and have dinner with friends and family.there are many different ways to celebrate this holiday.

Thanksgiving is a holiday that has been celebrated for a long period of time. It was started by the Pilgrims and the Native Americans who had a feast celebrating the harvest. Thanksgiving is a time of giving and thankfulness and a reminder not to take what you have for granted.

Thanks to Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time where all men are grateful for what they have and their blessings. Families come together in their homes to celebrate the feast to come. At a traditional Thanksgiving dinner Turkey and mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce . Not to mention pumpkin pie! even presidents get  in the festivities , they annually pardon a turkey from being eaten during thanks giving. Even though it started as a joke by Ronald Reagan it has became a permanent ceremony among the presidential community. Football is even affected. All manners of people are brought together by this great holiday.

Thanksgiving, Such A Joyous Occasion

I feel that Thanksgiving is a very good holiday, for those who care for it anyways. Thanksgiving brings families together. It stops much fighting and feuds between family members and it makes families more thankful to what they have and own, even though the next day much fighting happens. Thanks to Thanksgiving it's brought many families together, and brought people to new foods and tastes.

Thanksgiving is a very old holiday, but is still practiced very much. It shows how two very different people can come together and come up over their differences and get together to have a beautiful feast. But some people don't realize how important this holiday is. Some people just think of this holiday as a day to eat a lot of food and socialize with family and friends. But in reality this holiday was about the fight for survival that the pilgrims had for food. But then, like a gift from heaven, a couple of Plymouth Indians gave food and shelter to these pilgrims

The pilgrims were very grateful for the empathy that the Indians had, but it wasn't until a while afterwards that this day became a holiday. This, Thanksgiving, was made an actual holiday by Abraham Lincoln, and it represented all that the people of the United States were grateful for.

So hopefully more people will respect the holiday of Thanksgiving. If they do appreciate this holiday more in depth than they will realize what's more important in their own lives, and what the early citizens of the United States went through. So we should be thankful to them, or else a lot of people wouldn't be here.

Thanksgiving: What YOU Should Be Thankful For

Thanksgiving is all about what were thankful for, right? Exactly! Alot of people think that Thanksgiving is a day to eat excessively and then go Christmas shopping right after.

To me, Thanksgiving is a day to spend time with family. It is also a day to thank God for all the blessings and wonderful things he has given to us. We are also thankful for living in a free country full of opportunities. Alot of third-world countries aren't even allowed to follow the religion they desire or know best. They must obey the ruler of their country. They don't have a freedom of speech like we do.

I am also thankul for having parents who care about me. Some people have kids, but they don't want them. Instead, they give them up for adoption. Sometimes, they abduct them and treat them badly. They wish that they never existed. Some people, on the other hand, love children and would do anything for them. That's what you call a parent!

Alot of people think that Thanksgiving is just a big feast. I feel that God provided for the meal on Thanksgiving Day. Alot of people think," Oh, it's just another all-you-can-eat feast." All they do is just eat and eat like they don't have a care in the world.

People think that Thanksgiving is "just another holiday". Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks for everything we have.

Physical Education in Schools

     PE is important in school because otherwise well have a bunch of fatsos walking around schools.
Laziness and sedentary life styles is a high contributor to type 2 diabetes in adults. If students are not taught how to exercise and stay fit to prevent chronic diseases like diabetes as stated in this article.
     The simple basis of PE is to enable the student to be able to excise during their life time. Track and field concentrates on cardio and protects the heart and prevents heart diseases . Activities like jump rope are shown to help improve overall heart health. Even a simple section of stretches helps prevent cramps and stiffness in the muscles. PE should definitiely be kept for the general heath of the student body.

P.E. Activities: What is Appropriate

 

Some people believe that competitive sports (activities) should be banned from P.E. They are wrong because it incorporates thing that a kids exercise routine. This consists of agility,speed,and coordination.

One of the the attributes is agility. Agility is what is used to move around, over, and in between things. this is a skill that can be built up over time and is a skill that is used in many sports such as football, soccer, and baseball.

Speed is an other attribute that is needed and built over time. You need this to move quickly from point A to point B, you need this in every sport.

The last attribute is coordination which  helps you catch the ball, hit the ball, and other different things. This one is just as important as the others because it what gets things done.

some people believe that competitive sports are bad and should not be played in P.E. because is has winners and losers. Competitive sports do have winners and losers but as a person you have to learn how to lose.

Thoughts of Physical Education

I think P.E is very important to have in public schools. Not only does it improve your body physically, it also improves it mentally. While excercising, it improves the blood flow in your brain. Physically, it improves your overall health. 

P.E physically improves your overall health. This article by the University of Michigan states that kids who are very active are less likely to miss school. They also improve more in academics than non-active kids. It helps maintain the child's weight, helps maintain energy, and help us feel   good about ourselves. In my opinion, I love P.E because you stay fit while having fun at the same time. Many studies have demonstrated the positive effects of physical education and physical activity on school performance. On the other hand, parents think that just running isn't going to improve overall health. 

P.E mentally improves academic performance and blood flow of the brain. When a child is running, the heart rate increases, right? When the heart rate increases, it causes the brain to "concentrate", meaning to focus on the effects of the physical activity. One day,  I noticed that my friend was improving her grades. She would usually ask me for help, but the next couple of days, she did everything by herself. I asked her," How did you improve so well on your academics?" She replied," P.E. I saw a study about it, and I decided to follow it." Current research shows a consistent positive relationship between physical activity and academic achievement in children and adolescents. Parents argue that physical activity has nothing to do with academic performance. 

A lot of people(mostly parents) argue that physical education is not important. They say that their child's health is none of the school's business. It is the school's business! They need to know if your child has certain medications or health issues! What if their child gets sick? They can't blame it on the school. It's the parent's fault. No one else's. 

If it was up to me, I would require all the schools in the U.S to have P.E. It can improve academic performance and overall health.

Physical Education, Threat or Asisstance Towards Children?

Some people may say that their kids shouldn't have to do Physical Education because they do not want to. Well I for one love P.E. and getting exercise than being cramped up in a classroom all day doing school work. But some kids, some obese and some just lazy, don't like to do P.E. because it is exercise, but those kids need to do the exercise. If they don't learn how to do the these exercises, or keep themselves fit with exercising then they will become obese or really lazy when they grow older, and if they are lazy or obese it will be harder to find a job because all they will want to do, if they are lazy, is skip work or sleep and go in late. And with the obese problem, we can't say that the people who hire people for a job aren't prejudice. If they are "fat" than some bosses may not want them in their profession, or they may harass the person for being obese. 

Another group of people may argue that when doing exercise at school they risk getting an injury. Sure doing P.E. does have risks, but isn't bruises, scratches, and cuts apart of being a kid? If kids do not learn how to deal with pain at a younger age they will grow up thinking that everything is safe, but sadly that is not how this world works. Plus if kids are afraid to get hurt then in later school years they are more open towards bullying  because they are acting like "wimps" and need to "man up". Another thing is that if they don't get hurt at a younger age then they won't have what they call a "thick skin" and will most likely cry when hurt, physically or mentally. 

People may think that P.E. is a waste of time and would be better spent teaching children to become book smart, but not physically strong. But if P.E. was such a waste of time than why is there a lot more pros than cons? Like P.E. is the only other time of the day when kids can socialize while having fun exercising. P.E. will also help kids not get ridiculed when they get older. Most kids are ridiculed because they have a weight problem, and this also leaves them open to rejection from people that they are infatuated with. Would you like this to happen to your child? Would you like them to grow up with horrible fitness where they are winded from walking up a flight of steps? NO! So do not cancel the Physical Education subject in schools!

Hyenas: Docile or Vicious?

The hyaenidae, also known as the hyena, that live in Africa are very deadly creature. Most people mistake the hyena to be a scavenger, which makes them underestimate the strength and tenacity of these amazing creatures. These creatures have perfected the way of "The Hunt." The stay in groups, or clans, of about 80 other hyenas and savagely attack their prey. They don't stalk their prey like lions which make their attempts at kills a lot more efficient than most wild animals, like lions. They also have one of the worlds strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom. 

These animals are very vocal, social. They are always talking amongst one another with high vocal screeches, which often people say sounds like mad laughter. They are also known to have very coordinated attacks, because of the sheer number of hyenas in a clan they can overpower most anything that they see as sustenance. The leaders of each pack are females, and there is always an alpha female in each clan, with the males being very low on the ranking system. Often males had to forage or try and scavange pickings off of the females kills. Females in charge, in my opinion, seems like it would work out so much better, not only in an animal clan but in a human political system as well.

The hyenas have one of the most deadly bite forces in the world. It's bite force is measured at about 1,100 PSI, also known as pounds per square inch. The hyenas bite force passes the bite force of a lion, at 691 PSI, and the tiger's bite force, at 1,050. This bite force is only trumped by a few animals, like the hippopotamus, which is at 1,821 and the crocodile, which is at 5,000 PSI. The hyena has the third highest bite force in the animal kingdom and can tear through muscle, and can even chew through an elephant's bone. It feasts on it's kills while it's still alive and reduces them to a bloody pile on the floor.

A hyena is not likely to attack humans, but if a hyena is injured it will most likely go for a human since humans that are unaware of the threat of hyenas are fairly weak towards hyenas. A hyena would usually attack a human during the night since they have very good hearing and eyesight during the night. They kill humans in less than three minutes, and eat every part of them, clothes, bones and all. So in conclusion don't mess with a hyena, they are no laughing matter!

There are many symbols for love such as the rose,but I think that the heart it the best symbol. There are many reasons that i think this such as it represents many different things involving love and happiness.

One of them is happiness it self which is one of the most important things in life. It is something that people should seek for in there life.

Another thing the heart represents is charity which is a way to express empathy. This is to help people who need it.

The other reason I think that the heart is the best symbol of love is because it is something that you need to survive so, you are figuratively giving them your life. This is what I think is the best example why the heart is the best symbol of love.

I strongly believe that that a heart is the best symbol of love. The reasons to this is what it represents and, among these are happiness and joy. Although their all others they do not express it the way that the heart does.

One of the many symbols of love is a baby (that is what the kid who sits next to me in English said). A baby is a big symbol of love reasons why having a baby means you are so in love with your girlfriend or boyfriend or husband or wife that you wanted a person (a baby) to share what the soon to be mom or dad's characteristics that they have. I mean most people don't just have a baby for no reason.

Another symbol of love could be a fake flower or fake rose because when most of time when someone is going out with someone they give them a rose to show when the rose is alive that is how long the relationship is going to last , but then after a week of keeping the rose it starts to die or is probably already dead. So then if you think oh the real flower or rose idea might not work after all so then you get a fake rose or flower and it will last forever unless you burn it or you guys just start hating each other. also it will last as long as a rock too.

in this article it talks about a heart being a good symbol for love . One reason why it is your heart is the most important thing in your body without it you are done for. so being told to some one that they will alway have a spot for you in their heart for me it is awesome and epic and cool and something many girls will cry when you say that but not me.

A Love Symbol Like No Other

The most important love symbol is the heart. The heart represents charity, joy and compassion(as well as love).

Charity means when you help out with other people. When you make charity possible, it makes others feel full with hope and confidence. It makes a difference in their lives, as well as yours. Like in a relationship, you help each other out with certain problems or difficulties by talking it out. In charity, there's always something to give. You can never go empty handed when in a relationship.

Joy is when you bring happiness to yourself or to other people. In a relationship, you try to make your boyfriend/girlfriend happy by taking them places, going out to eat, go to school dances, and more. When you are sharing your thoughts and feelings among other people, that brings you joy because you know that they're listening to what you're saying. They will always know that you have confidence in him/her.

Compassion is when you have ups and downs and you don't know what to do. For example, let's say that your best friend's grandma died. While she is going through a hard time, you try to be empathetic with him/her. In a relationship, you TRY to say and express your feelings with him/her, but you just can't! This is what causes break-ups(mostly). Having compassion is taking into mind what people are going through.

The best symbol for love is a jade turtle

Jade is a beautiful brown or green Gem stone. Jade is not like a rise that rots and wilts. Jade is everlasting. It reflects a loving relations ship by constantly adjusting its temperature it keep its companion comfortable. Jade is not easily faked so you know it's a true message.

Turtles are a message of longevity of life. In ancient china jade turtle were consider good luck. The dome of its shell symbolizes the wide open blue sky's beauty .

Is The Symbol For Love A Heart, Or Is It Something Else?

In my personal opinion the best symbol for love has to be represented by a book. A book is very strongly built on the outside, but on the inside it shows the sweetness of the two lovers with soft paper. It also shows how, in a long book, you need to commit to the book so you can finish it. Also if you don't pay attention to the book while you are reading it than in the end you will not understand a single thing and will just give up. Another thing about the book and love is that in a relationship not only do you need undying compassion, you also need intelligence.

The hard cover of the book represents that a relationship needs a strong base/structure to stand on. If the book or the relationship doesn't have a good, strong cover than the beautiful insides would just fall to the floor, and disappear with the wind. Also the soft and beautiful insides are just as important as the hard outside. If the insides where not there than the relationship would be, sadly it usually is, just a hollow shell with either no or only one person with feelings for the other, while the other person is just looking for more that a "kiss" or "hug" from the other person.

If a book is good than you will continue to read it and will enjoy it all the way through it. The same goes with a relationship, if you have a good relationship than you love the person very dearly and don't want to stop being in their company. How would you react if someone took your favorite book from you while you were reading it? Well most likely you would try to get it back, am I correct? Well wouldn't the same go for your dear love? if someone tried to take your love you would try, at any means necessary, to try and get them back.

When you are reading a book that is fairly long you cannot skip things, and you definitely cannot shove off details, or else in the end you will just crash and burn. Same goes with a relationship, if you cannot listen to your "partner" or if you shove off things that they say than in the end you will just crash and burn, and your lover may just leave you.

Lastly a relationship needs two intellectual people. They need to be smart enough to know when they need to apologize for a stupid argument, but if they are smart enough and love each other dearly than they will try to stray away from idiotic and petty fights. Also if they are both intellectual than they usually will stay together. These are reasons why I feel that a book is a great, if not the best, symbol for love.

Banned Books

In the article on ABC News it has a list of banned books. I don't believe that all of the books listed should be on there. Some of these books are classics and have been around for a while. parents of some students have read these books.

One example the book 'Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was banned because of the excessive use of the N word but it was the way that they spoke at the time that the story took place. I know that the word is bad but it is part of the of the character's personality. These things give us insight on how their character is. Things like this have happened to multiple authors and books. Another example is the book The Hunger Games it made the list of banned books because of the graphic content. This it does in fact have because of the fight to the death, but I believe that it teaches readers how far people will go to survive. A third example is the book Harry Potter because it was believed to have been promoting witchcraft. I have read a couple of the books in that series and I would disagree with that. These are just three examples of the long list of books that have been banned.

Anne Frank And Other Questioned Books

Books like "Tango Makes Three" should definitely be banned but, amazing literary work like "Huckleberry Finn" should be on the shelf ready for a new reader to experience.The classics and books that teach an important life lesson and history that should NEVER be repeated one example is "The Diary Of Anne Frank" it details the life of a Jewish girl and her life during the holocaust.

In reality all book are protected by the bill of rights and it is un-just to bann or filter what the reader consumes. freedom of speach is a very used and protected right anyone who banns book are not protected and are criminals in the eyes of the law.

Another book that is questionable is hunger games becuse it show humanity and care for other under circumstances. some part are graphic like petas wound (it was cencered in the movie ) but under the grapic and fighting and death and ...... ok its pretty bad. but its protected by the law.

All in all the reader should have the say in what they read. No government nor library or school should choose for you .

Have You Read Any Banned or Controversial Books?

Have you read a banned or controversial book? I have read many of these. You might be surprised about these books today. Nowadays, a lot of teachers agree with banning certain books, but others agree with reading EVERYTHING. In a lot of books and stories, they always take out the good stuff such as the rising action, the climax, and the falling action.

You're probably wondering," What does it mean by banned or controversial books?" It means that these books are not in schools or libraries. One of the banned books that I read is The Hunger Games(trilogy).This book is about 12 districts that choose 2 people, a boy and a girl to fight to the death in a battle royale known as the Hunger Games. I just don't understand why this book is banned!! To me, it has a good meaning and story to it. A lot of teachers say that this book has too much violence. For certain ages, this book is OK. But for people that are immature, don't read it. Long story short: I recommend this book!

Another book that I read is The Diary of Ann Frank. This book is about a young girl who is Jewish and had to go into hiding during the Second World War to escape the Nazis. This book is usually read in middle and high schools due to its content. For me, this book has no graphic or other inappropriate content. Teachers rarely read this book because of the way Ann describes what is going on while in hiding. This is my Book Recommendation 2.

In conclusion, some books just don't deserve to be banned or controversial.

The Quest To Kill God

The book The Golden Compass was challenged very harshly by religious groups. Religious groups (mainly catholic groups) saw the book as a direct representation into the catholic church. In the book it showed the corrupted church (that was not intended as an insult to any religion) and how horrible they were towards people. It also showed how humans can become falllible if introduced to something corrupt. The book is also about a orphaned girl who is treated unfairly by the church goes on her own search to kill God.

After the author of the book Phillip Pullman was confronted by the religious groups that wished to ban his book he said, and I quote “I think my position would be that throughout human history, the greatest moral advances have been made by religious leaders such as Jesus and the Buddha. And the greatest moral wickedness has been perpetrated by their followers. How many millions of people have been killed in the name of this religion or that one? Burnt, hanged, tortured. It’s just extraordinary.” — Philip Pullman. He also stated “It’s not the presence of Christian doctrine I object to so much as the absence of Christian virtue.” —Philip Pullman, about him being an atheist.

His book called much attention to the horrible reality of humans. It showed how wretched and twisted some humans are. It also showed how humans can be changed very easily and that even a great and prosperous person can become horrible and twisted if the surronding of this person are wretched.

Another reason why his book shouldn't be banned is because it is an amazing adventure story. It shows awesome traits in the main character which all human beings should try to strive to be. It also shows a story of friendship, undying frienship at that. Now do you really want to ban an amzing story like that?

Also this book shows how organized religion can be a double-edged sword. While it may help people in life try and better themselves so that they can go to better places when they die, like Heaven or Nirvana, it also leads way to much corruption inside of the religious affairs. It shows that all organized religion could become corrupted very easily, and without these kinds of books reminding us we could forget these things ourselves, and in doing so our own religion could be jeopardized by the corruption of not only other religions, but also our own!

Bad Role Models

I believe that the list of raunchy role models was a good one for what it was trying to express. Some people may disagree with some of the choices for the list, but I think that the list was spot on. I also think that their reasons were very solid.

One of the people on the list that people might argue for might be Squidward from the show Spongebob,but as the article states he is selfish and that is not a good example for kids. Another person might be Ravi from the show Jessie but again the article states that it is boosting the stereotype of the culture of the character. The article had a good reason for everyone on this list whether you agree or disagree it is the truth.

What About the old english men

        As you can see in this link that they did not add Simon Cowell to the list for being the most meanest person of all times except for Gordon Ramsay he is meaner than Simon Cowell. I think maybe it is just old men that are English . well anyway nobody would want their kid mean and rude like  Gordon and Simon. but I don't know what is wrong with honey boo boo I mean she is just a little girl who wants to be in a pageant nothing is wrong with that ,and nothing is wrong with squidward he has been mean for so long and they just now notice. Now one show I do disagree with is keeping up with kardashians there is a lot of cursing and some times the don't bleep it . The rest of the shows I do agree with.

Eric: From That's 70's Show should be included on the list.

Topher Grace, also known as Eric Foreman in a popular show called That's 70s Show should also be on this list. In that 70's show he is usually seen thinking of sexually explicit things, which may reflect on teens more than kids, and is usually one who likes to use pot. He shows that even if you do pot you may not get in trouble and that it doesn't do much in most episodes. He also is seen being very perverted to his girl friend Donna.

These things make him a very bad role model for children. He also has a half caring, half difficult home with a father and sister the pick on him all the time. But his mother is a caring a nurturing person which is displayed in many episodes. But this nurturing is seen backfiring on her son because Eric seems to wimp out of a lot of things but does not have much negative outcomes, besides a scolding from his father.

His actions teach kids that if you don't stand up to challenges than the world will be fine, but it won't, the world  can only prosper with brave souls. He also shows that perverted thoughts won't get you into trouble, and with that I disagree, if you say anything concerning a sexual nature you could be find or even go to jail. And lastly he shows that drug abuse is fun, but it is not. It kills brain cells and dulls your mind. Is this what you want your kid to grow up believing? If not than we should put Eric Foreman on the Worst T.V. Role Models list.

Why Inst Stevie-o on the list?

Just think about it. Every thing Stevie-o does is just plain stupid. He is a prime example of a bad role model .

First he graduated .... clown school...After he began working at a flea market circus. just that and him being on TV is just miraculous.
Soon he discovered video and recording his less than sain adventures. 
The journey to becoming a TV star started with him hurting him self while skate bordering. A quote from Stevie him self "Soon it dawned on me I wasn't that great at skateboarding. So I put down the skateboard and just kept going with the camera." 

second is a aperence on wild boys and another show *cough* cuss word.
every act in wild boys more moronic than any of the acters and cartoons on this list. from a snapping turtle being attached to his derier to stapling the logo of the show on said area of his body

Out of these 2 lists, I agree with the worst TV role models( I agree with everyone on the list). I agree because some of these characters are a bad influence on kids. Let's say Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner ALWAYS focus on themselves. They start minor arguments that don't make any sense. They worry so much about how they look. It seems like the show is all about their appearance. It doesn't matter how you look on the outside, it matters how you are in the inside. Another example is Gordon Ramsay, the famous chef and food critic. He always expects everything to be PERFECT. He just starts a storm when he sees something wrong. He is so mean! He should just give people a chance to show what they know( the people), not what HE knows. Finally, Squidward from the hit TV series Spongebob Squarepants. He is so selfish! He doesn't care about anybody but himself. When he is working at the Krusty Krab, he is just nasty to the customers. He is only happy when he gets something from someone else. You'd think that his music and art would redeem him, but he pursues them with such a pretentious and snobbish attitude. These television shows' characters are not that appropriate for our children these days.

Color Guard

 

 

 

 

                       So what is color guard is it a type of art or sport .For those of you who said a sport hurray those of you who said a art well not every thing with the word color doesn't mean it has to do with art .So I've been doing color guard ever since my brother told me about it .So first I started practicing with a stick but it was too heavy so then with a mop but it was to heavy on one side so I told my dad about it and he cut the mop part and it was perfect . I thought that I was the best just like any other little kid would think they are at something , but then my sister said I was good so then after that I kept on practicing until my sister got into high school and told me there was a color guard team like this link and and from that day I couldn't wait for high school and I still can't . Then in Junior High they had a thing called  access and I signed up for it and eventually got accepted and started in November (like really late since school since school started in August)and when they gave me this schedule to fill out the thing that stood out the most was color guard of course and I signed up for it but never got in and my dreams were crushed . I felt so sad that day and then met this girl at my table that was really nice and she told me her color guard story and said she had it in elementary and I thought to myself my school was cheep because they didn't have access they had day care (i know like for little kids and it cost $300 a month). After that day we became friends ,and now in access we are in the same colorguard team.

Hit the Dirt

 In baseball there may be a ball hit at a distance that you may not be able to reach while running but there is a way to get to it. In order to get to a ball hit that way you will have to dive. There are steps to follow so you can catch the ball on the dive and not get hurt.

The first step is anticipate where the ball will land. You also have to time when the ball will be passing you. These steps must be done quickly in order to decide whether or not you should dive. For example in the picture above make an observation  on whether or not he followed the following steps above. These steps are important when it comes to catching the ball.

The second step is once you have decided to dive then there is no backing out. If you start to dive just go with it. When players begin to dive then decide to back out they can get hurt. One tip is to keep your head up during the dive because if it is down you can easily get your face in the dirt or grass. That would also cause you to get your eye off the ball which could cause you to miss the ball.

The third and final step is don't be worried that the ball will hit you because it is not likely. With that mentality you will never dive for a ball. Most of the time it either gets passed you or you catch it.

In conclusion, in many baseball situations where you may have to dive for a ball. There is a procedure you must follow in order to catch the ball and not get hurt. If you follow these steps you will do exactly that.

            Basket ball is a competitive skill sport, if you got what it takes to play it all you`ll need Will be the know how to play it. Basketball is based on two teams trying to score point in one of two nets. Each net is located on opposite side of the court, which is divided in half. Points are scored by a team throwing the ball in the perspective team hoop at different distances. There are three different point groupings the first, and lowest in value is the, 1 point foul shot, the second is the 2 point shot and the last is the three point shot.

            There are many game modes to play on a basket ball court such as poison. Poison is played by at least 3 people. Each person gets a turn to throw a ball toward a hoop. If the player misses the next player needs to grab the ball before it bounces 3 times or they will be eliminated. If the player scores the shot they must grab it before it bounces three times or be eliminated, when they grab it they will try again and if they score three shot they get to bowl thee ball and whatever player it hits will be eliminated.

One time while I was playing poison me and my friends were playing like it was ping pong .boink bonk boink bonk over and over without stopping until the worst happened .The ball went over the gate!

“Oh no!”

“A cars coming !”

“ WATCH OUT!”

The ball got ran over but it was ok it survived . But then a second car came and the ball got ran over again  Imagine getting ran over twice in the same road! The car squeezed the ball till the point of explosion until…..it popped out and landed on the side walk and was recovered by teachers.

“Woo”

“It didn't pop?”

“Were lucky”

So the game continued … until it went over again.

            Another game to play on a basket ball court is horse. Horse is played by taking turns. If a player makes a shot the next player will try to make a shot. If they miss they gain a letter. The first person to get all letters loses. This game can be played with any word.

             Make your own game modes to play outside on a court and Don’t forget that basket ball is a great exercise and improve many aspects of your heath so go out and play!
